Susan's work is an investigation of a tactile territory.
“Adrift in rivers that divide and bind lands, I chart a home anew. I inscribe their white waters, dark depths, dry beds in a dense grisaille, inferring conversion from dark to light, from vulnerability to strength. Discovering resolve in wild flows that hold no regard for boundaries. Embrace the cloth they weave across lands, its expanses encasing a new thing. Do you not perceive it? Their unfettered flow cleanses, revives. I leave the river and my feet touch solid ground. I am no longer adrift.”
